Wooden Go-Kart
Summer 2020 - Fall 2021
When I was 11 years old my brothers and I assembled a motor bike (first picture). We rode it a lot and also tried making all sorts of trailers for it (first picture). Later, we made a wooden go-kart with brakes. After getting it to work, I put on brakes, lights, horn, and steering with a steering wheel instead of steering with feet.
-

This was an early example of a kart we made to get towed by the motor bike. I was in the kart and my brother was riding the motor bike.
-

This is another cart we designed. We put our dog in it too.
-

This handle is the wheel brake we made.
-

This is another angle of the wheel brake.
-

This was the start of the wooden go kart.
-

-

Our dog, Petrica, is happy to be there.
-

My brother was testing the steering.
-

We were testing the kart here.
-

The following pictures go through the building process.

This is me drilling in the holes for the brake handle.
-

The brake handles. My little brother is in the background. He was taking a break from playing soccer.
-

This is me hammering in the brake handle.
-

This is my little brother testing it out.
-

This is me working on doing the wiring for the lights.
-

The lights I wired work!
-

-

-

I even put some under glow on it.
-

This is all the wiring I did.
-

This was working on the wiring for the horn. I used a car air horn and wired up a power tool batter with some switches.
-

-

-

This is were I put the switches for the horn. It worked - it was very loud!
-

This picture and the following are the steering mechanism I created to use a steering wheel.

The steering wheel isn't attached. It would go at the top of the steering column. This is the final iteration of the kart.
